LinkAge tutor Christine Power talks about the great fun she has teaching her growing band of line dancers in Shirehampton. There’s a great deal of fun and gentle energy about it all but it also has a very positive impact on the health and well being of the people attending.

This month we’ve had some key press coverage including an ITV News Report about Bristol having very high levels of social isolation, LinkAge’s befriendee Jack talking about his experience with the Befriending Scheme in the Evening Post and LinkAge’s Ricky Skelton and Claire Miller talking to John Darvall on BBC Radio Bristol about AllAboard!

On Friday 25th July at the Vassell Centre, Fishponds, LinkAge in partnership with Young Bristol launched a Summer of Age. This exciting partnership brings together people 55+ and younger people around meaningful activities during the whole of the summer holidays.

Society creates these rifts between us and old people, not us, we need more opportunities like this to come together”.

This summer LinkAge and Young Bristol held taster sessions of intergenerational activities across Bristol. This has been vital to our development of a demand driven programme of community focused intergenerational activity.

The activities included; creative activities, sporting opportunities, IT, Bush Craft and a scratch choir to name a few. These activities gave young people and people over 55 the opportunity to come together and share knowledge, skills, experience and also to have fun!

Hear all about what the young people from the National Citizenship service thought about it all.
