One of the group members, who is in his nineties looks forwards to the meeting and feels a real sense of achievement from his time at the club. Mervin Hare (95) says, “I have limited mobility in some parts of my body but through regular walking and practising Spencer’s exercises I have managed to maintain my mobility and improve my physical health…even at my age I can see and feel the benefit of keeping active!”

The club aims to; promote active aging, reduce social isolation, and help people maintain independent. Spencer places great value on these aims and can personally witness the benefits to the members. LinkAge has been a loyal supporter of this project since the beginning and has helped to keep this valuable service running.  The club always welcome new members from the Fishponds area and beyond. Brenda and Bernard Payton have been attending since the club began. “We love to join in with the group and meet up with others, it gets you out and you are made to feel so welcome. My husband particularly likes the games and to swap stories about the past! I like the tailored exercise and all its benefits, I do them at home sometimes as well which makes all the difference.”
