Wesport COSE Awards Ceremony

LinkAge were nominated this month, for the Outstanding Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity Award at Wesport's COSE Awards Ceremony. LinkAge were nominated along with Weston Athletics Club and Parkrun. The award on the evening went to Parkrun, who are a local volunteer run organisation who organise free, weekly, 5km runs across the West of England.

The event on Friday 23rd October, was a glamourous occasion with speeches from the Chair of Wesport, Liz Bloor , the Chief Executive of Wesport, Steve Nelson and the Master of Ceremonies Colin Jackson CBE.

Claire Miller, Chief Executive of LinkAge said, “This event has been brilliant and a lot of fun. We have heard so many inspiring stories from people who dedicate their time to promoting and supporting sport, it’s been really fantastic. I am also sure that in the room there are some future sporting stars! We were so thrilled to be nominated for this award and it is great that the work we are doing with people 55+ around physical activity and sport is being recognised. The winners of the award, Parkrun, sound like a really amazing organisation. The numbers of people participating in a purely voluntary led project is brilliant and they were a very worthy winner. I hope that over the next year we can continue to grow our sporting offer to people 55+ across Greater Bristol”.
