Member spotlight: Severn Physiotherapy

Severn Physiotherapy offer a home visit service across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. They’re passionate about keeping people mobile and pain-free as they age.

As well as their home visit service, the team offer free educational talks in nursing homes, cafes and retirement villages. The next one will be held at Waitrose cafe in Portishead on Wednesday 29 January 2020 at 7.30pm – no need to book, just turn up!

Physio Kelly explained what you can expect from one of their talks:

“Our talks provide lots of useful information about how to remain mobile for as long as possible, using the latest evidence-based data from the NHS, NICE, the CSP, AGILE and BGS. Then we’ll discuss risks of falls and tell people what to look out for (both external and internal factors) and how they can improve their strength and balance with exercise.

We also educate people on normal age-related changes in the body and how this can relate to other symptoms and what to do about it.

And after all that talking we all get moving! We do some exercises – whether it be in the chair or standing – whatever people can manage! We all do it together, it’s really fun for everyone and we all have a giggle!”

The Severn Physio team are highly experienced in working with people with mobility and balance problems and building confidence with movement. In 2020 the team was awarded the Bristol Prestige Award for Physiotherapists of the Year.
