Experiencing the Outdoors

On Thursday 28th May, 27 members of the Stockwood walking group ventured up to Young Bristol's outdoor activitiy centre. The day kicked off with a walk through 50 acre wood, heading down to Abbots pool before looping back up to base camp for a spot of lunch whilst taking in the amazing views. A large batch of homemade brownies were circulated amongst the group, all ready for the next session of Bush Craft.

With the group sat around the camp fire, Matt Donnelly from Young Bristol used his wealth of knowledge and showed the group various ways of making a camp fire using items such as wire wool and a battery plus cotton wool and Vaseline! The group had great fun trying the different techniques with laughter heard from all areas of the camp.

The group then headed towards the High Ropes course where nearly 10 members of the group took turns to not only control the safety rope for the brave climbers, but have a go at venturing up the tree and across the balance beam, before going up to the next level and walking the tight rope. This would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of the group, cheering and applauding each person who took on the challenge.

A fantastic day was had by all involved with plans already taking shape for another adventure day in the summer.
