LinkAge has been awarded three year funding to deliver the Strategy, Organising and Coordination contract for Bristol Ageing Better.

The project offers a city wide approach to encourage new activity where there is a lack of community provision for people over 50, and connect and support organisations or groups who work in an asset based way, to actively involve and include older people in local decision making about their local communities.

Three Community Development Coordinators have been employed to focus this work in the North, South and Central/East of Bristol.

Networking services and groups

Linking with voluntary organisations across Bristol to create local network meetings that support those working in community development.

Funding and in kind support

Identify and share funding and in- kind support opportunities from local organisations, businesses and funding bodies, with the groups the Coordinators are working with.

Encourage new activities

Mapping and identifying gaps where more concentrated community development work would benefit the local population aged 50+.

Support and champion asset based approaches

Support and encourage organisations to work in a way that builds on community strengths and encourages communities to come up with their own ideas.

Are you a theatre-lover over 60 who's looking to meet new people? Join the Matinee Mingle club with Bristol Hippodrome and you can meet up with other members before selected mid-week matinee performances and enjoy a complimentary hot drink!Do you know someone looking for a new theatre buddy?

Our Matinee Mingle scheme, supported by National Friendly, brings together lone theatre-goers aged 60 and above before certain matinee performances, giving them the chance to make new friends, meet like-minded people and enjoy a complimentary hot drink. We'll be running Matinee Mingles on selected dates throughout The Lion King - so if you know someone who'd love a day at the theatre with some great company, let them know!
