Reflecting on the Post-Retirement Opportunities project

Since its launch in July 2018, the Post-Retirement Opportunities Project (PRO) has offered support to over 175 people who are approaching retirement, recently retired or facing redundancy.

Events held in Bristol over the past nine months have covered a wide range of areas including volunteering, learning, working in later life, and general retirement planning. In addition to signposting people to relevant organisations, tools and resources, events have offered attendees the opportunity to explore and share ideas about retirement, hear from individuals with lived experience of retirement, and meet and socialise with people at a similar stage in life – all whilst enjoying some free refreshments!

Guest speakers have provided honest, insightful and inspiring accounts of their own retirement journeys, whilst workshops have taken a more practical approach to helping participants think about their future, from re-finding their purpose to identifying hopes and plans and the barriers to achieving them.

A wealth of local and national organisations offering specialist services, activities, opportunities and advice have been represented at events, including the Money Advice Service, Independent Age, the National Careers Service and Life Cycle UK.

If you would like to be kept informed on any future developments and events, please keep any eye out in our monthly e-newsletter and on the PRO webpage.
