Make a New Year’s resolution with a difference

Turn the January Blues to Gold!

On top of your fundraising activity, we will be encouraging people throughout January to make a New Year’s resolution with a difference… and we would love you to take part! Here are some ideas…

Start a conversation
Simply smiling and saying hello to an older person, being a friendly face, having a brief chat with your neighbour and letting them know what’s going on locally, can make a big difference and bring some light to someone’s day. You might be the only person they have spoken to that day.

Volunteer for a charity of your choice
There are lots of fantastic organisations and charities who organise opportunities for older people across Bristol. This January why not sign up to support a local charity or community group of your choice! Volunteering can be a rewarding escape from your day-to-day life, give you a sense of purpose and help you to gain skills and learning that you can transfer into your personal and professional life.

Volunteer as a company/business
There are also many ways that you can volunteer with your colleagues! You could check if your company/business has a corporate social responsibility policy and link your fundraising with this, or you could take part in local initiatives that clear community gardens, decorate community venues, and help at local events and activities.

Make a donation
Making a donation is a great way to support a local cause. However big or small, every donation counts! If you want to support LinkAge Network this year then text GOLD31 and the amount you would like to donate to the number 70070 e.g. GOLD31 £10 to 70070.

Every penny of your donation goes to LinkAge Network. You may be charged for your text message, please refer to your network operator’s standard rates.

Keep in touch

We would love to hear what your New Year’s Resolution is for this year, and how you are turning the January Blues to Gold. However big or small, tag #Januarybluestogold on social media and let us know what you’re doing to make a difference.
