Member Highlight: BS3 Community

BS3 Community, a South Bristol based community development charity, is looking for volunteers to help out with some of the activities they run for older people.

Tea Dances take place four times a year at the Southville Centre on Beauley Road and the charity is looking for volunteers that could give up a couple of hours every now and again to support these events. Volunteers will help set up tables and chairs, decorate the venue, run the raffle and help with making tea and serving cake.

They are also looking for people to help out with a boat trip on Monday 15th April. Members of the BS3 Community Monday Club for older people are going out for the day and a few extra pairs of hands to support the regular volunteers would be gratefully welcomed! The team will meet at the Southville Centre at 10.30am and will be returning to the Centre at around 3pm(ish). So if you are a fun and outgoing person that could assist people on and off the bus and the boat, help distribute the packed lunches, drinks, cream teas and life jackets they would love to hear from you.
For more info about volunteering at either the tea dances or the boat trip please email kate.kings@bs3community.org.uk.

BS3 Community is also looking for new trustees and would like to hear from people with the commitment, time and professional skills to help them to fulfil their ambitious plans including the opening of an intergenerational nursery, inspired by their involvement in the uplifting Channel 4 show, Older People’s Home For 4 Year Olds.

To complement the existing Board they would be interested to speak to people with experience in the following sectors: Law (ideally contract law experience), Accountancy (ideally with charity finance experience), Human Resources, Health and Social Care.

Potential trustees would need to have the time and capacity to attend board meetings (four per year) plus an annual team building day for staff and volunteers and in particular, because they would like to diversify current board membership, they would happily welcome enquiries from black and minority ethnic candidates.

You can email hr@bs3community.org.uk to find out more.
