LinkAge’s membership network is designed for local groups, organisations and community organisers to:

Connect members across the west of England,
Share knowledge, resources and skills, and
Strengthen community provision for people aged 55+.

Group talking at a network event

Membership is open to…

…groups, organisations and community organisers who work to strengthen community provision for people aged 55+. Organisations and individuals can come from anywhere in the West of England.

Membership of the LinkAge Network has benefited us greatly. More importantly, it has benefited the people we work with. Our membership has given us access to the new ‘What’s On’ Guide. We were delighted to work with LinkAge Network on the first edition of the new Guide earlier this year. We have distributed the Guide far and wide and it has been an invaluable resource as we have expanded our Community Outreach Service. And we have ambitious plans to expand our reach further. Our membership of the LinkAge network will help us do that. We look forward to an exciting future working together!" Ricky Bush, Community Outreach Service Manager at St John's Foundation

Benefits of membership:

Networking events
LinkAge Network delivers networking events for members. Events connect members to generate ideas, debate problems and share solutions.

Last year, LinkAge Network events included workshops on fundraising and marketing, shared learning on ‘meaningful’ user involvement and delivered a conversation between members and the CCG re the future of services for older people.

Of the members who responded to our end of year survey;

  • Members learn: 60% said that the events taught them things which benefited their work.
  • Members make useful connections: 100% said they had made useful connections.
  • Members collaborate: 40% went on to say they are now collaborating with these new connections.

“Excellent networking event, good buzz in the room, really valuable to meet so many other organisations doing great work. Also, came away with ideas.” Member feedback

Members can use the LinkAge Network’s wide-reaching communications to promote their projects, reach local people aged 55+ and connect with other Network members. We have an accessible website, 2050 followers on Twitter, 850 followers on Facebook, and over 700 people receive our monthly e-newsletter.

Of those surveyed, 67% said they had found it “very beneficial” to use LinkAge Network’s communication platforms to promote their organisation, activities and services. The remainder said “reasonably beneficial”. Members have successfully used our communications to;

  • Increase attendance at an activity or event
  • Reach a wider audience
  • Attract new volunteers
  • Raise awareness of their organisation.

“Linkage Network has helped me to find out about events or activities in the community that might be beneficial to the people I am working with. Member feedback

Members have access to valuable resources secured by the LinkAge Network, such as support offered by local businesses and gifts in kind.

In 2018-19, LinkAge Network shared 12 ticket offers to the value of £6,530 with members. Shows included ‘Miss Saigon’ at the Bristol Hippodrome and the film ‘Jurassic Park’ shown at Bristol City museum, by Bristol Film Festival.

We have also linked corporate volunteers with network members for mutually beneficial events.

“Our community members who spend time at home benefited from some of the ticketed events you have told us about.” Member feedback

What’s on Guides
Members can produce their own What’s on Guides, at a reduced rate, in partnership with LinkAge Network. The What’s on Guides are well-known and valued; LinkAge Network printed 23,000+ copies in total in 2018-19, and we still get asked for more! LinkAge is keen to extend its coverage of the West of England, so if there is no Guide for your area, get in touch and let’s discuss how to produce one together. (There is an additional cost to the membership fee to produce a Guide, but members are charged a reduced rate.)

LinkAge Network brand
Members have the right to use the ‘Part of the LinkAge Network’ logo. LinkAge is already a locally recognised brand, trusted by residents of Bristol.
