BLOG POST: Looking back on 2018

Written by Jo Stokes, Chief Executive Officer at LinkAge Network.

I cannot quite believe it has been a year since we relaunched LinkAge Bristol as LinkAge Network. It seems like only yesterday we welcomed 50 people from Bristol’s VCSE sector to our launch event but it also feels like so much has happened. The elasticity of time!

2018-19 has been a year of rejuvenation and consolidation. LinkAge Network started new projects such as Talking Tables and PRO; the organisation increased its support of the sector with dedicated funding and resources and our membership network took off.

Meanwhile, existing cornerstones of the organisation have remained steady but also grew. Our popular What’s on Guides have proliferated; now including three more Bristol wards, with more planned. LinkAge Network’s roots are in community development work and our current project has supported new activity for individuals aged 55+, empowered communities to take their own action and facilitated groups to deliver more. The Macmillan-funded project continued to deliver its vibrant Wellbeing Days but also recognised its gaps and designed new delivery for those project was missing; Chinese and South Asian elders.

Thank you for all your support throughout 2018 and we look forward to working with you all again in the future.
