A Summer of Wellbeing Days

The first of our Wellbeing Days took place at Brunel Care Sheltered Housing in St George on Wednesday 3rd June for Whitebeam Court's Wellbeing Day. It's safe to say that the day was a resounding success with 36 people coming along for a day full of activities.

Up first, after lovely bacon sarnies and tea provided by the staff, was a Keep Fit session adapted for all abilities. The whole room joined in shimmying and shaking to songs old and new and feedback recieved from participants was great. Next up were 'Gathering Voices' who ran a singing workshop where participants learnt a variety of songs – the songs are known to be great for exercising and improving memory. A quick stop for lunch, again kindly provided by Brunel Care and then the group went straight in to Chair Yoga. Again, participants were really engaged and the feedback recieved was fantastic. The day finally ended with a session of New Age Kurling; let's say it got quite competitive at times but there sure were a lot of laughs heard from all that took part.

As a whole the response from the day was really positive and we are now really looking forward to hopefully introducing several of the most popular activities into the local area.

We'd like to say a big thank you to all who came and of course Brunel Care.

“Fantastic, great fun, a nice and handy local venue, friendly trainers, nice food.”

That is what one the participants thought of the day at the Easton Leisure Centre.

Approximately 26 people came along to our Easton Wellbeing Day on Wednesday 24th June. The majority who attended took part in a variety of activities inclouding Cricket, New Age Kurling and Zumba. It appeared on the day that Zumba was the most popular as a lot of movement and laughter could be heard from the sports hall.

We would like to wish the manager and staff of Easton Leisure Centre for all their help and support that they gave to this event. We'd also like to thank our local advisory group who have been extremely supportive.

We now look forward to setting up several of the most popular activities in the local area over the upcoming months, so keep an eye out.
